Be engaged- Eye contact, head nods
Be courteous- allow someone to get their entire thought out before interrupting.
Be polite- “May I interrupt, Would you please go into that further.”
Be honest- Truth expressed thoughtfully is received better than expressed in anger or ridicule.
listening effectively will tell you almost everything you need to know about a person.
Look For:
verbal-Most everyone will give you verbal clues to their dislikes and likes.
Tone-Paying attention to the tone of voice, what people speak cheerfully and passionately about allows you to build upon positive cues and talking points to engage in.
Body language
Become a Student of BODY LANGUAGES
The body speaks often louder than the tongue. Micro Expressions
Becoming proficient in reading body language and verbal cues
For some people have a natural ability to read a persons emotion or vibration that person gives off and from there they can use these skills to engage in most pleasing conversations. Others benefit greatly from the constant study of human nature and expression. Over time you can gain enough data from your study of people that from very short brief interactions you can gather by listening effectively, and acquire larger perspective of a person than you could normally.

Facial expressions are very telling, But it is not always the dominate expression that you see on a persons face that tells the true feelings that person is feeling it is the Micro Expressions.

A microexpression is a brief, involuntary facial expression shown on the face of humans according to emotions experienced. They usually occur in high-stakes situations, where people have something to lose or gain.
